Team Yankee Marders

My quarantine resolution is to complete all partially finished miniatures before starting anything else. Recently, I've finished these West German Marders. I have the panzergrenadiers to go with them, but like so many things, they aren't painted yet.

Pictures were taken in my new light box. I'm still not sure if I like the black or white backgrounds better.

Light Box

Recently, I started using a piece of printer paper as a backdrop for the my miniature photo sessions. Lighting typically consists of two or more desk lamps at different angles. As you can see from some of my older posts, this is a less than ideal setup.

I decided to make the plunge and buy an actual light box. After seeing how affordable they can be (less than $15 on eBay) and considering that in the current crisis this is the only way for me to share what I have done.

It has been said each word is only worth 1/1000 of a picture so here's a few thousand words worth how well it works.

Here's the first test picture using the white background

I tried placing a miniature on a raised surface (paint can) to get it closer to the top mounted lights. Things still looked a little dark to me.

The kit I purchased came with several  different background color options. Tried it with a black background. Wow! what a difference.

Here is a photo of the same miniatures taken a couple desk lamps and blank paper for a background for comparison.
