Star Wars Legion: Rebel Troopers

A few weeks ago, my friend and I took the dive into Star Wars Legion.  I went with the Rebel half of the core set.

Recently, I just finished the two squads of Rebel Troopers.

As you can see, I've modeled mine on the rebels troopers on Endor from RoTJ.  Each squad was given different color bases to help tell them apart.

There were several new tricks I tried on these miniatures.  The first was painting the miniatures first and doing the bases last.  This allowed me to get better access to all parts of the model during painting.

The camo pattern was another new trick.  I had to achieve a soft-edge airbrushed look, but on a surface that was too complex and small for the airbrush.  Basically, I used water to blur the camo pattern.  I came out looking pretty slick.  I may do a more detailed write-up on the process some day.

One of the few complaints about the figures in Star Wars Legion is the lack of easy customization. These two figures are the only conversion I did.  It was just a simple arm swap plus green stuff to fill the gaps.

I spent a lot more attention on these bases than I have on past 28mm figures.  I used a special blend of tea leaves for the forest floor and cut up fake plants to create the ferns.  This may also be worthy of its own article at some point in the near future.
